Batch Convert Multiple Images to AVIF While Keeping File Names

Each result uses the original base filename with an .avif extension. Duplicate names are numbered rather than overwritten, and folder-relative paths can be included in the ZIP when the browser supplies them. Individual downloads use the final filename without changing your source file.

The converter limits each queue to 100 files and skips files larger than 40 MB to reduce the chance of exhausting browser memory. Pixel dimensions matter more than compressed file size during encoding, so very large photos may still require resizing or smaller batches.

Resize Large Images During Batch AVIF Conversion

A maximum dimension scales the longer side while preserving aspect ratio. Images already below the limit remain at their original size. This is useful when a folder contains camera originals that will only be displayed at a smaller web width.

Resizing changes pixel dimensions and should be intentional. Keep master files separately, then use the batch output as a delivery derivative. The result row lists the encoded dimensions so you can verify what happened.

Private Batch Image to AVIF Conversion and Memory Use

Sequential processing keeps only one active raw image in the encoder at a time, while completed AVIF blobs stay available for download. This approach is slower than an unrestricted worker pool but behaves more predictably across laptops and phones.

If the browser becomes constrained, reduce the queue, choose a maximum dimension, or use Faster encoding. A failed item does not stop the rest of the batch, and completed results remain downloadable.

The queue accepts up to 100 files per batch. Available browser memory, image dimensions, and device performance may make a smaller batch more practical.

Will the ZIP keep my folder structure?

Yes when the browser provides relative paths and Keep folder paths is enabled. Files selected individually do not expose a folder path.

What happens when one image fails?

The failed row shows an error and the converter continues with the next file. Successful outputs remain available for individual or ZIP download.

Does batch conversion upload an entire folder?

No. The browser folder picker grants the current page access to selected files for local processing; the converter does not send them to our server.
